Chevelle es un trío de hermanos apellidados Loeffler. Todos autodidactas, Sam se hizo cargo de la batería, Pete de la voz y la guitarra y Joe del bajo. Inspirada por los riffs tambaleantes de Helmet y la voz suave-fuerte de Tool, la música del trío de Chicago, Chevelle, acumula tensión con un sonido agresivo y pesado hasta explotar en ráfagas de guitarra. Su cantante y guitarrista Pete Loeffler se inspira en temas abstractos y a veces en ideas humoristicas.
